Informit Health Collection
The Informit Health Collection is now available to UQ during its pre-launch period. The Informit Health Collection will replace the Informit plus text resource Meditext. Meditext content will cease to be updated from 31 December 2009. The UQ Library has a 2010 subscription in place for the Informit Health Collection.
About the New Resource
The Informit Health Collection will deliver instant cover-to-cover access to core allied health information from the Australasian region. Many of the peer reviewed journal titles it includes are uniquely available through Informit, offering new perspectives of benefit to allied health professionals and students. As with other Informit databases, the Collection also provides access to grey literature such as conference proceedings and reports that are often difficult to locate. Read more about the Informit Health Collection at www.informit.com/health.
How is it different from Meditext?
Meditext, the predecessor of the Informit Health Collection offered only partial full text access as opposed to the cover-to-cover access provided by the new Collection. Likewise, the new Collection indexes content from New Zealand, South East Asia and the Pacific as well as Australia. From January 2010, articles are sourced directly from content providers and are high quality PDFs, including colour. As mentioned above, the subject focus of the new Collection is allied health information, as opposed to clinical content.
