Working at UQ Library
The University of Queensland Library comprises thirteen branches located on the St Lucia, Gatton and Ipswich campuses in several teaching hospitals. The Library has, in total, one of the largest collections amongst Australian academic libraries, and by far the largest collection in Queensland. The total stock of some 2 million volumes includes large collections of microform, audio-visual, and digital files.
The Library's staff provide a quality client service to over 30,000 students, 5,000 academic and general staff as well as the wider community. There are many levels of employment within the University of Queensland Library which allow for promotion and career opportunities. Graduates are employed in the Library as librarians, information technology professionals and specialist administrative staff. Library technicians and experienced library support staff are also employed by the Library to undertake specialist and supervisory roles. The Library's service delivery is also supported by Library Assistants, Service Support Attendants and casual staff.
The Library is committed to providing staff development and training support so that staff better achieve their duties and responsibilities and to assist staff members achieve their longer-term career goals.

Conditions of Employment
Conditions of employment for Library staff are governed by the University of Queensland Enterprise Agreement (General Staff) or by individual Australian Workplace Agreements. Casual employment
The Library employs casual staff primarily to shelve books and provide customer service to library clients.
Expressions of interest in casual work can be lodged by submitting the 'Expression of Interest for Casual Employment' form. The data from this form will be retained by the Library for six months. Submitting a form does not guarantee that any form of employment will be offered. See the form for further information.
Vacancies
The recruitment of staff at The University of Queensland Library is governed by the University's Recruitment and Selection policy. Some positions which fall vacant within the Library may be advertised internally within the University and are open for application from University staff only. Other positions are advertised to the community at large via the Unijob website and the print media.
Applicants for positions should carefully note the requirements of the position in the position description and ensure that they address the selection criteria for the position in their application.
